This course will provide subject knowledge to help in planning and teaching biology for Key Stage 4 (Coordinated Science and Triple Science) with a focus on the genome, genes and gene expression and cell division. Develop your biology teaching with the tools and confidence to plan and teach effectively, engaging your students and supporting their achievement and attainment. You will be supported to find ways to enhance students’ learning skills. You will explore ways of building student understanding, taking account of preconceptions, misconceptions and common issues in teaching these biology concepts.
This course has been partially funded by an Enthuse project. Schools are funded in the Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and Northampton areas only. Schools from outside of this funded area will be cancelled.
This course provides colleagues with an opportunity to consider the skills, vocabulary and literacy required by students to answer the A level Biology longer answer, essay-style questions.
For schools from Derby, Nottingham, Northampton and Leicester areas only. Bookings from outside of this area will be cancelled.
Are you teaching outside of your specialism or looking to improve your subject knowledge for delivery of A Level Biology (or biology components of Level 3 BTEC Applied Science or T Level Science)? This course will help you to prepare for teaching this topic and will focus on the subject knowledge needed to teach the content (cells, tissues, exchange and the cell cycle).
