The sessions are aimed at subject leaders and other key school staff. Each session is professionally facilitated by STEM consultants.

This course is suitable for new teachers and technicians that want to be involved more with demonstrations. The course will explore some key demonstrations in chemistry, physics and biology and how to make their delivery as effective as possible in the classroom. We will cover health and safety and risk assessment, presentation and questioning styles and how to increase the engagement and attainment with students using demonstrations.
For head of science and senior technicians this short course will cover how to create a science department health and safety policy and explore good risk assessment procedures and policies for the department. We will also look at making sure your department is safe against current guidance, for example chemical storage and safety equipment.
If you are a technician responsible for a technical service this course will help you explore options on how to make you technical service more effective in providing key resources for your teachers and students. We will look at prep room policies and organisation techniques, how to improve your requisition system, chemical storage and the storage of equipment, prep room and ancillary storage layouts, time management and how to deploy your team or yourself to fulfil your role.
With recent changes to the science curriculum now embedded in most schools and colleges, challenges still remain in maximising the enjoyment, engagement and success of learners. This course recognises the pivotal role that technical support staff play and provides the opportunity to meet, discuss and share good practice.
