Secondary Science | Maths

Secondary Science Maths Courses and network meetings for teachers and technicians. The following packages provide opportunities to network and learn with colleagues in the same role in other schools. The sessions are aimed at subject leaders and other key school staff. Each session is professionally facilitated by STEM consultants.

Developing Graphical maths skills in science – activities for the classroom

Graphs

  • explain the purpose of graphs and how this may be conveyed in a science context.
  • discuss the issues surrounding the teaching and learning of ‘graphs’ in a science context
  • consider the value of ‘sketching’ graphs to develop interpretation and graph drawing skills
  • discuss how to approach reading information from graphs, including distance – time graphs and the area under a graph
