We offer training courses at a number of local venues in the Derby and Derbyshire area, as well as online. We can work with you to plan a whole school INSET day or design a planned Continuing Professional Learning & Development strategy so that our trainers and consultants can work with your staff to deliver high quality, cost effective continuing professional development for teachers and leaders.
Our sessions are based on in-depth research and identified best practice and delivered by colleagues with a deep understanding of pedagogy and andragogy. Our trainers are highly skilled and include local Specialist Leaders of Education at Primary and Secondary levels who can support you in moving your improvement plans forward to have a positive impact on pupil outcomes and teacher well being.
Our offer is reviewed every year to ensure that it remains relevant within a challenging landscape and contains best practice at all levels as we believe that it is essential to deliver across all levels and sectors.
Stronger together: How great leadership and collaboration within and between schools can make the biggest difference for pupils.
A celebration and examination of how the everyday leadership habits of heads and deputies can build engagement and motivation of their staff. A timely reminder of what really matters in leadership and a chance for individual heads and deputies to celebrate their current strengths as well as identify potential areas for growth as teams and individuals.
An exploration of key behaviours that will enable really effective peer working between schools to deliver a positive process that helps each and every secondary phase school in Derby to really own their next move forward.
Secondary Heads have made a commitment to adopt a peer challenge approach between all schools with secondary-age students.
The scheme will be organised between triads of schools and initially, the triad discussions will provide support for the headteachers, focussing on Covid and other current issues. When the time is appropriate, site visits involving SLT colleagues will commence.

Derby Secondary Heads Peer Challenge Slides
All Derby City headteachers were sent this link with the password, to distribute to their senior leadership teams, on Monday 8th February.
The slide share was completed with active participants so if you would like a copy of this zoom recording then please contact Deb Outhwaite at deborah.outhwaite@dtsa.org.uk stating your name, school and reason for request.
These development days are open to headteachers or appropriate senior leadership of any type of school in the city or county. The days focus on the leadership of learning and give opportunities to address your own issues from your own context.
The course will enable senior leadership to develop high quality relationships and partnerships, provide opportunities to share experiences and develop professionally and to find quality time to reflect and take part in individual, small and whole group activities that improve a head’s ability to lead on learning.
